T 1 - L e s s o n T w o - 0 2 . 0 2 . 1 0

Last night, the server went down meaning the class could not do their homework.
I had already sent my homework through the emailing sytstem which allowed me to complete the task.
So today i decided to create my blog, update last lesson, and the present lesson.
therefore i was not sitting in class doing nothing productive.

For homework I worked on the GPS (Global Positioning System) system diagram
For each aspect i wrote:

Users:
Car drivers, truck drivers, navigators, taxi drivers.

Purpose:
To find any location uncluding streets and points of interest. It gyus the user to that point in various routes to ensure quick, toll or toll - free travel.

Informatino Processes:
The GPS recieves signals from satelights to gather the exact location of the vechile.

Learnt about information system in context.
this is a diagram ( has handout ) that gives various information including:

The environment: everything that influences and is influenced by the information system.

The purpose: a statement identifying who the information system is for and what it needs to achieve. Who the information system is for includes individuals and organisations.

The information system: a set of information processes requiring participants, data/information and information technology built ti satisfy a purpose.

Information processes: computer based and non-computer based activities.

Information technology: hardware and software used in information processes.

Data: the raw material used by information processes.

Information: the output displayed by an information system.

User: a person who views or uses the information output from an information system.

Participant: a special class of user who carries out the information processes within an
information system.

We also learnt about the processes in information processes are as follows:

- Collecting.
Cather the data, surveys, tests etc.
- Organising.
Organise the data to create a meaning.
- Analysing.
Giving the meaning to the information.
- Storing and receiving.
UNKNOWN.
- Transmitting.
Getting the information to the user. For example, via the Internet.
- Processing.
Giving meaning to the information.
Changing from one file to another.
- Displaying.
How is the user going to view this.
Theme/layout.
